Q: Who can apply for this workshop?
A: Everybody studying or working in paleosciences is welcome to apply, however the workshop is mainly aimed at post-doctorate early-career researchers and PhD students. We welcome participants from all backgrounds, regions, and research fields within paleosciences.
Q: Is there a registration fee?
A: Yes, we charge a fee of 150 USD. This includes participation in the workshop, accommodation for the entire duration of the workshop, breakfast and lunch on all workshop days, and coffee breaks.
Q: Where can I register and when does registration close?
A: You can apply for the event through our online registration form (click here to access the form). The deadline is 15th February 2019. As we have limited space, your registration will not automatically ensure your participation.
Q: Do I need to sort my own accommodation?
A: No. The workshop participants will be staying at Marsarykova College and the costs for accommodation are already included in the registration fee.
Q: I already have accommodation. Can you lower the participation fee for me?
A: If you do not wish to stay at Marsarykova College, we can offer you a reduced registration fee of USD 120.
Q: Do you provide financial support?
A: Yes. We have a limited amount of funding, sponsored by PAGES, that will go towards travel support and pay for the registration fee of selected participants. Participants from developing countries are especially encouraged to apply for travel support.
Please note: Any tickets for travel have to be purchased by the participants initially. If you have been granted financial support, we will reimburse your expenses after the workshop.
Q: Will the financial support cover my visa?
A: No. We are sorry to say that we cannot refund expenses associated with your visa application.
Q: Where can I apply for financial support?
A: There is a dedicated section for application for financial support in the online registration form.
Q: What is the maximum amount of financial support I can receive?
A: We cannot provide any information on how much funding we can offer any individual participant before registration closes. We have space for 25-30 participants, and we will make our selection and allocate funding based on the total pool of candidates - with the aim to ensure diversity, and with consideration of research areas.
